Stars are born from clumps of interstellar molecular gas and dust, and when they reach the end of their life span, they scatter their constituent materials, which in turn creates new clumps of gas to form the next generation of stars. This “matter cycle” is closely related to the birth of the human race. Focusing on the matter cycle and star formation, our research group has been conducting astronomical observations of gas, dust, and star-forming regions in various galaxies using state-of-the-art telescopes.
