Outline

Shizuoka University established the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation (enrollment of 115 students) in April 2024.

Currently, we are facing complex and serious issues in all areas, including climate change, which is a global concern, and regional revitalization and revitalization, which are the most pressing matters for local communities. In order to solve these problems, it is necessary to connect a wide range of knowledge from the humanities and social sciences with natural sciences, view social issues from multiple perspectives, and utilize “integrated knowledge” generated through this process.

Our faculty aims to develop competent individuals who can collaborate to generate and apply “integrated knowledge”.

“Growing together” refers to people from diverse backgrounds working with one another to consider social issues and work to resolve them. Moreover, it is a method for creating a better future society. Today, as societal issues have global reach, collaborative personnel will be needed to master joint development while bearing a global perspective.

In order to develop capable individuals who can develop together, our educational objectives are to cultivate a wide range of knowledge from the humanities and social sciences to the natural sciences, advanced communication skills, and data science skills. Our faculty integrates the existing six faculties (Humanities and Social Science, Education, Informatics, Science, Engineering, and Agriculture) which have displayed their respective optimal educational output thus far. In addition, our faculty progressively incorporates the School of Regional Development, which has a proven track record as an interdisciplinary baccalaureate educational program. Furthermore, by offering a productive curriculum for our students that includes overseas training and data science, our faculty provides our students with practical and unique educational programs.
