In nature, wood is decayed by white rot fungi such as Lentinula edodes, Pleurotus ostreatus, and Pleurotus eryngii.
In order to solve the global environmental problems such as global warming and environmental pollution, my research group has been investigating on the production of bio-energies and plastic materials from woody materials using white-rot fungi, and on the degradation and detoxification of environmental pollutants by white-rot fungi, respectively.
