To realize a decarbonized society, innovative technological development is essential in various fields such as energy supply, materials, and information systems. Our laboratory is developing “cellulose-based composite materials” that are a mixture of cellulose and plastic. If cellulose, which is the main component of plants, could be used as a material for automobiles and home appliances, it would lead to a reduction in plastic usage. However, it is also true that there are many technical challenges that must be overcome. I believe that our research and development will create the future.
